Background:

I was born and educated in the middle west, studied Political Science, Psychology and Film History, began writing after college and published my first book on American Film Noir. I moved to San Francisco in 1979, where I currently live with my wife Sara O'Meara. In the middle 80's I started SINK Press, and I coordinated The Canessa Park Reading Series from 1987-93. In 1993 I created The List of Experimental Poetry/Art Magazines. This list is a noncopyrighted, freely circulating document that tracks over 250 publications around the world.

Performance:

In addition to the Bay Area, I've performed in New York City (Ear Inn, St. Mark's, The Knitting Factory), Boston (Word of Mouth), Phoenix (Scottsdale Art Center), Minneapolis (Center For Book Arts), Seattle (Bumbershoot, Subtext), Portland, Cleveland, Washington D.C., London and elsewhere.
